Hello Blue Devil Families!

We've had a great start to the 26-27 school year! We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged.

What is NWEA MAP Testing?

This week, our school began our first round of NWEA MAP testing. NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Growth is an untimed, computer-based assessment that tracks a student's individual learning and progress over time.
Key Takeaways for Parents:
  • It Adapts to Your Child: As students answer questions, the test adjusts—getting more challenging with correct answers and easier with incorrect ones. This pinpoints exactly what your child knows and what they are ready to learn next.
  • It Measures Growth, Not Grades: There is no pass or fail. Rather than evaluating mastery of a specific unit, MAP measures personal progress from the beginning of the school year to the end.
  • Helps Teachers Tailor Instruction: Teachers use these quick insights to personalize classroom learning, give extra help where needed, and stretch students who need a challenge.

DOT DAY at CHES

Mark your calendars for Friday, September 18th for our Annual Dot Day Celebration at CHES! Throughout the week, students will enjoy a fun Dot Day activity in the library, read the book together, and discover how we can all make a positive mark on our school. Don’t forget to wear your polka dots on Friday, September 18th!

Reminder - Transportation Changes

All transportation changes must be submitted to the elementary office before 2:00 PM. Please call 936-552-3424 directly to relay any updates. Avoid sending messages via ParentSquare for same-day changes, as teachers may not be able to check messages during class. Contacting the front office ensures your message is received promptly. Thank you for your cooperation!

SHOUT OUT: CHES PTO

A huge thank you to our incredible CHES PTO! Thanks to their support, our playground has brand-new swing seats and chains that the students are already loving. PTO also gave our staff a wonderful boost by stocking the teacher kitchen with delicious snacks and coffee. We are so grateful for everything they do for our school!

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

Every day in school is a chance to learn, grow, and connect! Regular attendance builds strong learning habits, boosts confidence, and keeps students on track academically.

Quick Reminder: When your child is absent due to illness, please send a doctor's note to the front office as soon as they return so we can mark their absence as excused. Thank you for helping us keep our Blue Devils learning and thriving!
