About Me

Educational History:

I am a 1996 graduate of Nacogdoches High School and a 1999 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University.  I have been teaching Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten for fourteen years.  I received my Early Childhood degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and I am also GT (Gifted and Talented) and ESL (English as a Second Language) certified.  I also have a degree in Interior Design and a minor in Business Communications.

Professional Development:

I have attended Math and Guided Reading workshops geared torward Early Childhood.  I have also attended Technology, GT, and Hands-On Learning Center workshops in order to teach in various ways.  

I am also CPR certified. 

Current Position:

I began teaching Pre-Kindergarten at Central Heights in 2012.  This year will be my fourth year in the district. 

Previous Position:

I began teaching Kindergarten and Pre-KIndergarten at Herty Primary in Lufkin, Texas.  I taught there for six (6) years before to moving to Raguet Elementary where I taught Kindergarten for five (5) years.  This will be my fourth (4) year at Central Heights and this is where my heart is.  I absolutely love the little ones becuase of their smiles and love of learning!

Family Information:

I have been married to Mitch since 2001.  We have three beautiful children.  My oldest will be attending Middle School at Central Heights and my two younger ones are at SFA Charter School.

We have two dogs, Oliver and Bogie, and a cat named Pixie.

Personal Information:

I love to run.  I will be training for the Houston Marathon which will be held in January.  I also qualified for the Boston Marathon and hope to go in April.  

I also enjoy going to all my kids baseball games, watching tumbling, piano recitals, and any other extracurricular activity they have.  

As a family, we enjoy going to our deer lease.
